The “Safe Action System MYTH”

The lack of a external manual safety on a striker fired pistol is and continues to be a recipe for disaster.

Ok, start moaning and groaning or reverberate the zombie spell that manufactures of striker fired pistols laminate… “Our guns have X amount of passive safety’s + a external trigger lever safety, blah, blah, blah. The little “dongle” lever in the center of the trigger is not enough! We as you have heard over & over, keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire or your trigger finger is your safety… We could not agree more! But, you knew that was coming, right, humans make mistakes, even more so under stress. Look up the statistics on accidental / negligent discharges of handgun types/ models and you will find that the striker fired variants have taken the poll position.

We like striker fired pistols. That is mostly what we use. We also have seen seasoned professionals make mistakes with striker fired pistols while re-holstering, drawing etc.

Another note, if the bad guy gains control of your non-manual safety equipped striker fired pistol in a confrontation, you may be shot with your own gun. When the bad guy  presses the trigger of a manual safety equipped pistol and the guns does not go bang, the bad guy now has to figure out what happened… This gives you a small window of time to launch a counterattack to achieve victory!

Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, & others offers a manual safety option on their striker fired guns. But what about Glock? They have built them but at the time of this writing, are not an offering to the public… In fact Glock, when we inquired by phone in October of 2018, denied the existence of such a model while I was looking at a photo right in front of me while on the phone with a Glock rep.! (Glock submitted a gun for the military trials that in fact has a manual safety!)
