REDUM INC.

It looks as if the FBI prematurely shot this man in the video. (Towards the end.)

The man has his hands up and is then fired upon, then turns in response to the rounds hitting him and then reaches for his waist….

Operation AK 47: Bolt Hold Open Magazine Follower Upgrade!

Realizing that I am late to the AK 47 party, I purchased an RAS 47 from Century Arms as an evaluation project.

I have trained with the AK in the past but I decided to stick with the AR 15 type variants over the last 20 years…

Why the change of heart? Century Arms started making 100% MADE IN AMERICA! I also wanted a rifle that was designed for the 7.62x39mm round…

The first change was to replace the wood furniture with the Magpul furniture in O.D. Green. This consisted of a MOE Standard hand guard, MOE + Grip, which is the same as the standard MOE Grip with the addition of over molded rubber, & a Zhukov-S stock. The furniture is top notch!

The second change was the addition of a K-Var Side Mounted Scope Mount with a Bushnell TRS-25 Red Dot.

The third change was the addition of a Viking Tactics Wide Padded 2 Point Sling with an HK Hook added to the front. My favorite go to sling.

One of the short comings of the AK is the lack of a bolt hold open after the last round has been fired. This means you will not know you are out of ammo until you press the trigger and hear/feel the click…

The issue was addressed with the creation of bolt hold open mags which are available on the surplus market. These are nice when you can find them which is often. They can be a little on the pricey side.

The forth thing I did was purchase 12 like new Polish made AK mags that have been refinished from an online retailer. The mags are perfect and only cost $10.95 each but do not have the bolt hold open feature and I want/need this feature.

Here is the fix!

Primary Arms sells replacement bolt hold open mag followers that come in a 3 pack for $15 as of this date 01/11/2016.

It was cheaper to buy the magazines and the followers rather that buy the dedicated bolt hold open surplus mags. Options are good!

These are great!

2016 EDC Knife Picks!

Here are our current favorite EDC Knives. We recommend carrying two knives, one medium & one a little larger (Still not that large…). Both are folders and are LIGHT WEIGHT and are of a thin profile. Both of the recommended knives use great blade steel. These are available in many different colored handles! You will love these!

The medium one first: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005S0IAMM/ref=pd_luc_rh_bxgy_01_03_t_img_lh?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Winter Operational Success!

The link below is to a great post about operating in winter.

Successfully operating in winter will require more practice and planning.

Failure to prepare for winter operations is lethal…

Enjoy!
